Big game for us on Sunday. Sileby are a quality side who thrashed us twice easily last season. We haven't brought in many players, but have gelled together a bit more this season so far. Sileby are sure to walk away with the league, and really if the CSFL had looked into it more, then Sileby would've been promoted last year IMO.

We have Barton FC in Div 3, I reckon we are very close in skill and talent and last time we played we didn't have our best performance but drew 2-2, i think both teams are going to be wanting to win this time and I can speak for my lads when i say we believe this is our opportunity to finally get off the mark and gain 3 points!

You can't blame the CSFL for not promoting Sileby, as they finished fouth or fifth last year. As only the top two go up, then rightly, Sileby didn't.

Its not the leagues fault that Sileby have strengthened, & improved over the summer.

Anyway, im sure Loughborough Royal Oak will have something to say about who wins this league

What was it about Sileby from last season that made you think they should have been promoted?
They only finished mid-table and didn't do that well in the cups.

Yeah, they're doing well this season, but their free-scoring ways have dampened down. Take a look at Lboro Royal Oak - they started this season like they did last season; Maybe they shouldn't have been relegated the previous season?

All I'm trying to say is that there isn't this integrated network of player assessors working for the CSFL that everyone keeps referring to when some team looks like they're running away with a division.

Last season, Riverside did it in Div 4, Beacon in Div 3, Stamford A in Div 2 and Compass in Div 1 - Someone has to be top and more often than not, the team that wnat promotion so badly (and thus invests in a higher standard of player than they have normally had) run away with the league. It can't always be a nail-biting too-close-to-call right-to-the-wire finish every season.

Sorry Stu, lunch break essay over.  Wink Good luck to you against Sileby this weekend - they've obviously improved and it's nice that you've found a new rival now that Riverside have left you! Laughing

By the way Wilko, this is not to be disparaging in any way to your team.

I miss all those rivalries we had last season had some great banter on here

but I think our biggest rivalry was with Sileby think there was more chance of adebayor rejoining arsenal than us two having a friendly kick about lol. But I would like think there is a mutual respect between us though.

We have a good one starting with cossy royal oak will be competitive when we play them bragging rights in the pub is on the line there lol

No offence taken by the points made, we had a very inconsistent season last year, experianced players such as Walsh UK took 4 points of us, Riverside and Three Nuns were both good footballing sides. I looked into both teams and they both had some very good individuals, with three nuns they had that Daz who plays for Loughborough who is absolute quality and Tom Marriot and Dean Betts,( despite the argueing on the pitch between us and them) it made me wonder that was this the forumla to be up there? Because quality like that certainly rubs off on players and its done us a hell of a lot, especially with the signings I made. I look at Loughborough Royal Oaks players and they've signed a few new lads and Swannington, despite not knowing much about them are really decent lads and when they get going can get results. Finishing 5th last season looks like a blow but Division 4 was a hell of a division with some of the players that was in it. I'm looking forward to Sunday a lot, the mentality is that every team are going to be at their best against us.

P.s sorry if half of it doesn't make sense, its hard posting on me blackberry! I wish all teams well at the weekend and I look forward to the challenge vs Swannington.

We can play well when we make the effort wilko. The game against Riveriside in the cup 3 weeks back can testify this-(and we had 10 and then 9 men)

My point is, Rverside, although winning the league last season, were not this great quality team who most on here made them out to be. (no disrespect Riverside lads) its just the season before Beacon were by far and a way a better team, and went up 2 divisions. Looking back at our results last season, we lost more heavily to silbey twice than we did riverside.

I know Sileby dropped some stupid points against teams last season, as we ended up finsihing above them, but they do seem to be a great team.

Although we've not played them so far this time round, I can't imagine them having improved that much, as they already were a great team. In some cases, teams are promoted when they haven't finished 1st or 2nd. (breedon) for example. Was suprised the league didnt look at the results and prom them.

Saw last couple of minutes of the loughborough game against walsh as we were playing on the pitch next door, and they looked good, but can't see anyone stopping sileby

Sileby better than Riverside?

Both teams played our first team in post/pre season, Riverside beat us, Sileby got taught a lesson. Riverside were champions rightly so, and have the medals to prove it, Questioned answered.

Maybe Sileby win win it this year, who knows, as there is a long way to go yet, but I hope you dont use the above words in your team talk, or else you might as well give them the three points now.

From what I remember about your team last year, you have a good strong outfit, so focus on yourselves, your strengths, and how you can beat them.

Not by anyway having a dig at Sileby, but they are in danger of becoming this years Riverside, by getting everyones backs up, and in fairness this is nothing they have brought on themselves, just everyone else bigging them up.

IMO i dont think they can keep it up, we played them on sunday, and they had the luck of the ref.

They do have alot of pace tho all over the pitch and there midfield runs the game for them.

But i dont think they can keep it up. alot of people say oak will have the div, teams have said they are a far better side than them.

No offence to the silbey lads.

We are only 5 games into the season, alot more to play for, i think it will be quite close towards the end of the season.

Only time will tell.

No disrespect intended fella, just explaining the twitchyness of our lads to finally get going this season. We don't have so many new players since the last time we met, however we have some players back from injury and we are looking a much better team then the first time we played one another.

Again, no disrespect intended.

that's the problem we had teams started talking about, then other teams started attacking us then in turn we felt we had to defend ourselves and I must admit sometimes we came across quite arrogant which wasn't the intention (don't think the match reports helped lol which is why theve stopped) we would have much preferred to sneak under the radar.

Hopefully Sileby will handle the situation a bit better than we did because towards the end of the season our results and performances suffered for a couple of reasons I guess we were the team to beat and everyone were gunning for us and we felt a bit pressure to keep our reputation as I got the impression everyone was waiting for us to fail and rub it in.

Sileby learn from our mistakes and stay as quiet as possible I know sometimes it's not possible.

Anyway Ashby rovers on Sunday don't know anything about them so we shall see

I might have to ban Stu from commenting on this website cause when ever he does he makes a pratt out of himself and our team.

Looking forward to the game on sunday, it means one of us or maybe both will lose our 100% winning form in the league
