Great game to have played in. The game started fairly evenly with both sides having a few chances each. Midway through the 1st half, we won a free kick just inside their half. Danny Robinson hit the ball to the back post and the ball was nodded in by Jack Durow. That seemed to wake Riverside up, and about 10minutes before half time, they equalised after some good work down their right and a low cross was tapped home by their striker.
Danny missed with a free kick by a whisper from a long way out before half time.
The second half started the same until a stupid 2footed tackle by our striker earned him a red card- Deservedly so. Chances were at both ends, with both sides hitting the cross bar at least once.
Straight after kick off in Extra Time, some stupid play by 2 of our midfielders resulted in them breaking through and scoring what turned out to be the winner. More drama was to come after we were reduced to 9 men with 2 yellow cards, both given for dissent. We forced a great save their keeper not long before the end.
Good game, but too bloody hot!
Not bad for saying our main striker and midfielder wern't playing! Think we done ourselves proud today

I thought it was a very even game, and mainly played in the right spirit. I think if you could have kept 11 on the field, Riverside would have found the game much tighter. _________________ I know I'm rubbish, that's why I'm doing your game. |

It was a good game all round, i thought it was rather close. Mind the shouts of test the keeper just before kick off did make me chuckle as most of the shots went about 10 yards wide apart from the one i tipped onto the post.
Riverside are a good bunch of lads and if they expected an easy game today i think they found that we werent a Divison 4 push over.
Well done to riverside thou, with the 2 sending off's we had (that we cant really have any complaints about) i think that 2-1 was a good result for us. Our lads should be proud of themselves with the composure that they showed after the sendings off.
Game was well reffed to so thanks Ian...its just a shame you hadnt lost your red cards. haha _________________ Swannington Keeper |

Yea it was a good cup tie to be involved in, you definitely made us earn that victory today!!... we did need you to score to wake us up. we have been shocking in the last few games..
It was nice to see how the rest of your lads reacted when the two lads got their red cards... you should do well this season in that league would be suprised if your not contending by the end!!
Good luck lads _________________ HEY BOBBO!!! |

I played left side of the 3 at the back.. being dragged wide all game by your pesky right winger lol.. made life hard for myself by slicing a clearance and shredding my groin lol
Yea sileby have brought a lot of new players in this season, know most of em from college, knowing them they'l get cocky again and throw a few results away!! _________________ HEY BOBBO!!! |

You mean Theo our right winger? Good at running at players, not so good at heading the ball!
I was our left back.
I don't know how Sileby finished below us last season, especially as they thrashed us twice! |

In all honesty wouldnt like to face sileby at the minute, with the football we're playing at the minute, and the form they seem to be in..
Whats up Wilko, you sileby boys didnt like not getting a mention last season so you should be happy people are talking about you now!! _________________ HEY BOBBO!!! |

Little team? Hahaha.
You have one good player in your team Tommy Marriott, if it wasnt for him you would be garbage. At this moment in time we would destroy you. |

first off big mac plays for Wymeswold and I think it's Scott maclennan
and where's all the hate coming from we've always had respect for sileby since we played you in pre season last year which was competitive to say the very least we know you've got a decent team.
Were hardly going on and on we know we've had a shocking start to the season and you probably would beat us.
Just seems that your showing a massive lack of respect to us |

TJ at the end of the day, what happened on the pitch last season happened, I accepted it and the 9 other teams in the league accepted it and rightly so you stuck together, held your own and won the league. I always say Hi to your gaffer (when I get chance) and to see one of your players working his way through the ranks of Sileby Town its nice seeing that.
I think you were the one who was calling Aths '--expletive used-- not allowed! - This is a warning!' in pre season shortly after we lost against Qpr. Now the tides have turned, we are just getting on trying to get out of the division. But it seems we're not forgetten despite being in different divisions.
End of arguement, all the best _________________ Sileby Athletic Football Club. |

The lad that wrote those amazing bias match reports last season has moved down to london now!! Missing him in midfield, he used to run things for us!! you deffo held your own on sunday, it wouldnt be fair to say its cus we are playing awful cus i dont wanna take anything away from how you played!! You looked more like scoring throughout the game, n the chances we did make we wasted time after time!! _________________ HEY BOBBO!!! |

I know he'd left. He did make your team tick last year. To be fair mate, if it wasn't for good goalkeeping from both sides, and we both scored our chances that were fairly easy, the game wouldve finished about about 10-4 to you. We only hit the bar once, and forced your keeper into 2 good saves. Our right winger missed a good chance in the first half. Thats about it for us. I lost count of how many easy chances your lot had.
We played well, our manager siad thats the best he's ever seen us play in 3 years, but some of the blokes on the touchline thought it was more to do with you lot not playing as well as you shouldve.
Good game though. Very entertaining, and I can remember thinking several times during the game that it'd have been classed as a classic if it was live on TV!
Its the closest we've ever come to upsetting a team in a cup tie. Had everything really, sendings off chances etc etc |
