Yea was a good game, shame about your player sliding in on my in the area studs up to my face when he was never going to win the ball. Now he apologised i admit that but aparantly your players though it was funny. Wilko maybe you should have a word with your players, i could have easily been seriously injured after that tackle, instead ive got a bruise a centimetre away from my eye. Im sure your players wouldnt have been F*ucking laughing if our forward had done it to your keeper would they?????

Other than that it was a good game and i look forward to the replay.

Ashby Railway 6 - 2 Walsh UK

2-1 at HT but we kicked on in 2nd half. Walsh felt aggrieved that apparently on build up to our 5th the ball went out of play before we crossed it in. Always play to the whistle.

Was dissapointing not to have a proper ref for this one. Walsh handled twice on the line and recieved no cards whilst our left winger has a nice lump on his left knee cap where he was stamped on. Sort it out CSFL....

It is unfortunate that the game didn't have a ref as did four other Division 4 games due to injuries, illness and the FA Sunday Cup, but if you want to try and allocate 27 refs every week then be my guest.
Railway Fan

Yeh I understand it's not your fault, the way it is with the shortage of refs these days.

Out of interest though does a stand in ref have the power to actually book someone or send them off? Two clear handballs on the line, we scored 1 of the penos and missed the other but no yellows were given. If the stand-in ref does not have the power to enforce the yellow card through proper means then the safety of players is at risk surely?

Celtic 6 - 1 Twelve

Great performance from the lads today; a couple of players missing but everyone stepped up.

Good spirit from both teams too - see you next week in the cup!

will definatley take the point considering we had a fat ageing Womble in midfield and me playing with a crippled knee out of position then having to go in goal for the last 15.

Good game tho still enjoyed it

Railway Fan, any 'stand in' referee has all the powers of a registered referee for that game, so they can caution or dismiss a player.

To be honest if you had such a problem with the tackle from one of our lads why didnt you say something at the time? Instead of coming on the internet and running your mouth. None of us were taking the michael out of you getting inured, we arent like that. We had a good laugh with players such as Roger.

Anyways Swannington, good game and all the best for the season!

Yeah but with all due respect, its alright saying that but its never going to happen, no player standing in as a ref would accept the **** that would come with making such a decision. An official referee gets an element of acceptance for this kind of decision, a stand in referee would probably get more then just a mouth full of abuse of alot of teams. There has to be an element of realism to this rule that 'stand in refs have the same powers', because only basic powers are actually accepted by teams from a stand in.

Also;

Donisthorpe Engines 0-2 Barton.

Was a good game, defintley a game of two halves that probably would have been fairer as a draw, first half was all Barton's, some good play by them around the pitch. Goals came from a pretty dodgy looking penalty decision that the ref gave even though he was no where near it and a well crafted goal that came from a mistake of our defender. Hit the back of his head and striker took it on with alot of pace and finished it nicely.

Second half was a different story, Doni pretty much dominated the whole 45 minutes, there was some good counters by Barton but apart from one moment where our keeper made a professional quality save - probably the talking point of the second half - they never looked like scoring, though Martin did everything he could to get his team back on the attack.
We had some good chances and corners galoure and you could say we were pretty unlucky not to finish anything, but once again, the bottom line remains we lost and our bad run continues, tis alright performing for 45 mins, but when you do you end up with results like this.

Good game and have to say to all Barton are probably the nicest group of lads you can ask to face in Sunday League, a good bunch who play the game the right way and came back to our pub after for food (we expect some next time we visit lads lol) and drink, can't wait to face them again.

Good group of young players with lots of potential. Totally agree, first half Barton second half Doni. There were two shots, one wide and one in the post at the begining of the second half that could have changed the game but at the end we managed to get the win. Keep up the good work Doni and better luck for the rest of the season.

we to had no ref got the call ten minutes before k-o so joe smith reffereed bit dodgy for 3 of thier goals but when your five one up think he took pitty on them other than that he had another good game. think the bloke who was supposed to ref was still in bed with hangover cos he was out on the ale last night is he gonna get a fine like we would if we didn't bother in the morning and just give 10 minutes notice and then we only found out cos our reserve team manager phoned!!!!!!! not happy

Greenhill 1-2 Loughborough Rovers. Both sides not very good but we certainly deserved a share of the points.

barton f.c 2-0

yeh think your spot on the first half could of been 3-4 nil up didnt take our chances second half you came at us we soaked up the attacks and you keeper did pull off 1 of the best saves i have seen in a long time to tip my shot on the bar the ref was old and didnt keep up with the game but he was about 60 and did his best the pen was a bit funny as didnt know he gave it for the player that FOULED ?? me he did talk to him the corner before and was all over me then off the throw gave the pen not sure but my goal in the first 10 mins was never offside as you had a bloke on the post and he gave that 1 so bout even i think :] you should have no problem getting up the table if you put the same in the second half all the best for the season martin barton f.c

Tom, I know it was not good but let's get this completely right! Your Reserve Team Manager is the Secretary of the Club Exclamation Confused - that is who is supposed to be contacted isn't it Question Also, I admit it was extremely late notice but I contacted Paul at 10:04am this morning, so it wasn't 10 minutes notice (I'm not saying 26 mins notice is ok but it's an extra 16 mins to what you are saying).  Also, as I mentioned to Paul, I tried contacting RefSec seconds before contacting Paul but couldn't get through ( think my phone may be a bit knackered as a side note Sad  )

And to confirm; Yes I was out last night (and you've done it s**t loads of times tom so don't try stirring it!!). I am entitled to go out now and again, but don't worry, next time i want to have a few I'll be sure to ask your permission! Just in case it affects me in any way with football the next day.  By the way, I have been out plenty of times and gotten drunk **** loads of times and still got up next day and refereed 1 or 2 games!  I didn't feel well tom (which is exactly what i told Paul!!!) but I didn't have a hangover! Before you start moaning like that, get all the facts!!!!!!!!!!!

After all that correcting, I do apologise for not being able to referee this morning.  You and Paul should know what I'm like with football - it takes a helluva lot to make me miss refereeing a game or even just watching a game! It's the 2nd time in about 6 or 7 years in refereeing that this has happened with me so don't make it sound like I do this every other week Confused

On a side note to what you said about being fined Tom, Clubs fine players for lack of commitment etc - that's true.  But if you screw up as a referee, you are likely not to be given a few games as punishment (which equates to about £90!) so there's your f***ing fine mate! Start knowing a bit about what you write before you go off on one at my expense!  PS: write a report to the League making your complaint - oh wait sorry, it wouldn't be YOU that writes it, it would be your RESERVE TEAM MANAGER (AKA: Your Secretary!!!).

Unsure whether losing 4-2 does us justice today. Went 1-0 down, the 2-1 up, then it was 2-2 for most of the game. They scored in the second half to make it 3-2 and immeditaely from that kick off we gave the ball away and they scored again.

Keeper made 2 great saves from a free kick and a header. But our keeper made more, so maybe we were fortunate at 4-2.

Matt it was a bad challenge, but I dont think anyone was laughing. One of their lads did when i made a comment about peter cech. Swings and roundabouts mate, cos arrons slide tackle was very late and bad.

Sileby are a good team though, not scared of knocking the ball around

disgusted by what ashby railway has said about walsh

you need to get your facts right mate there was challanges from both sides as for a stamp you think that was dirty game my god, the ref never stopped the game too be honest he was awful, the fifth goal was out by a mile

You got the two penalties but if they were hospital challanges in this game i will kiss my ass.

As for wanting cards to be issued thats poor as well, we dont come to any ground to cause unjury to people, sometimes there is the odd challange but unless it was a real bad challange should not be cards.

SUNDAYS ARE FOR FUN NOT TO PAY STUPID FINES IF WE GO DOWN THE ROAD OF ISSUEING CARDS FOR EVERYTHING THEN PEOPLE WONT PLAY IT WILL BECOME TOO COSTlY

If you honestly beleive that was dirty game i think you need to have a word with your self mate

I thought you had a good set of lads even they were laughing at your ref ESPECIALLY WHEN HE GAVE AN OFFSIDE FROM A THROW

Well done Joey and the lads.....the machine is back.

honestly I would never write stanny res off but it was a stock result and proves they have no strength in depth. Best 11 vs ours would be a awesome game but u take 5 or 6 out that side and the same to us and they would struggle.

I was not pointing the finger at you wes, me old mucker. But, if you took 5 or 6 players out of any side then they would struggle.Have to admire joeys persistance with the reserves as, not only do they have to provide the first team with fresh meat when they are struggling, but, they also take young up and coming players from our team every other week, so, consistency is pretty hard to come by.

looks like a fight to the finish in Div 1.

I don't often jump in on people's ships but that fella is bang out of order on your lads. We would have beat 90% of teams in the whole of the Leicestershire Sunday Premier Leagues by a big score playing like we did today and to be fair to your boys, they never gave up despite the fact that there were some walking wounded on there and not just in spirit. I thought they were a credit and conducted themselves well. Most teams would have given up and totally caved in but the 15 goals we scored were all created and finished professionally and to the standard that I expect and what we can perform to.

I asked for a reply from last weeks shambles and by god did we deliver. Thanks to all the lads it's not often I'm happy enough on a Sunday night not to bother about work on Monday

Not really nick if I'm honest, we did go 2-1 down but both were errors and then we got back in front before half time and then we just went into cruise control. Yet again we took 2 big injuries to rob and kew who were gonna start plus no chris, Pud, milo, Scott or jermaine but we powered through and prob should of hit 10. I missed 2 easy chances, think the swine flu is still in me?

William Davies Cup same three with Stanny A side in there as well.

P.S Nothing to do with the CSFL but great to see Advance do Scrappy Garage 5 - 2 after being 2 - 0 down.

i like the idea of united aces and peacock not playing because they couldnt agree on a ref, fair play because after our joke of a game out at sporting wigston when they reffed the game, i dont think we will ever play a game without a proper ref again.

Re: disgusted by what ashby railway has said about walsh

To be honest mate you should see the lads leg, it was a state. Generally the game was played in good spirits and yes the ref was a complete joke.

With the cards I was refering to the blatant hand balls on the line. When the ball's going in and a defender can stick his hand out and block it for only a penalty given it's ridiculous. The offender must have some kind of punishment beyond the penalty. We missed the second but luckily the game was wrapped up by then.

You were a good bunch of guys apart from your number 9 that was playing at the back who couldn't stop swearing at us all for no real reason. The offside given from the throw was comedy at its best, unbelievable.

Good game anyways, sorry if my comments were badly recieved, good luck for the season.

The thing which really annoyed me Tom was that you made it sound like I do that every other week and that I don't care about whether the game of football gets a referee or not.  I've been involved too heavily in many aspects of football for several years now to not care about a game of football (local or national) - you seem to indicate I couldn't give a monkeys.  I have refereed games with hangovers in the past (a number of times actually) - having a hangover is no reason to miss refereeing (or playing) a game of football (in my opinion). The only reason I was that precise with the time was because I checked the time on my phone log. That's it.

I've already apologised to Paul and Iain for giving what is effectively last-minute notification (which some referees wouldn't have bothered giving considering how late it was), but I can't do any more than that. I wasn't well enough to do the 90 minutes, that's the sad fact. let's move on from this shall we?  But if you can't, then you can always ask Iain not to appoint me to any of your games? That way my obviously non-existent reliability won't cause you any further pain.

Me i wouldnt bother even thinking of becoming a ref when i stop playing all you get is a load of rubbish off players and fans of the teams. I take my hat off to all the refs in this league its a thankless job not to meny people want!!!! without them we wouldnt be able to play as you can see all the stand in refs from clubs are c@:p or games are called off !!! martin barton f.c

Refereeing is not as bad as people think - you just need to have patience and appreciate that most of the rubbish (on the field) is from a mixture of frustration and passion for the game and not because people are just nasty Wink  I used to be a stand-in ref for the L'Boro Saints before I actually became a referee so it was a good grounding for me Laughing strangely, I really enjoyed it!! I even enjoy the abuse Laughing It's just part of the normal game nowadays (unfortunately) - I do take action when I need to, but common sense plays a lot in the decision making Wink It's not all black and white as the Laws are written Smile

Tom knows what i'm like and i know what he's like so our little spat isn't as bad as people who don't know us think.

And Tom, bygones mate - I look forward to refereeing you against L'Boro Saints Reserves later this year (if I don't get switched Laughing)

i like the idea of united aces and peacock not playing because they couldnt agree on a ref, fair play because after our joke of a game out at sporting wigston when they reffed the game, i dont think we will ever play a game without a proper ref again.

From what I've been told (I wasn't there as I'm out injured at the moment), they've had some trouble in the past using non-assigned referees and didn't fancy it being a league game.  We played a friendly instead and beat them 10-1, which was the same score as when we played them on the first day of the season.

Great performance from the lads today; a couple of players missing but everyone stepped up.

Good spirit from both teams too - see you next week in the cup!

just one word about out performance on sunday and that was rubbish... just hope we can give you a better game this week in the cup!
