Ace_Striker

You beat them in the cup so why not?
Donisthorpe Engines

Don't count us short yet lads lol. We have a seriously strong team coming.
The Monk

The Donisthorpe Engines?

Heared of them before, they're most known for the amazing keeper aren't they? Razz

But yeah actually i think we do have a good chance, and think we'll be a surprise for a lot of people since we're a new team
Ace_Striker

Sounds like u lot r pot hunters to me?
Donisthorpe Engines

^^^ Say what?
Adamlill

I predict that we will gain more points than last season and show a few teams up along the way!
Matt B

Right here we go - neck sticking out time: I will take our 2 sides out of the equation for arguments sake!!

League..............Winners.................Runners Up..............Wildcard.......

Prem.............Wymeswold...............Shelly lions.........Whitwick Compass.

Div 1...........Groby Dynamo...........Stamford Res....Hathern three Crowns

Div 2...............Riverside.................Stamford A.............Beacon............

Div 3............Three Nuns............Shelly Lions Res......L'Boro Rovers Res.

Div 4...............Peacock...............Cropston Rangers......Sileby Aths.......

All of the above can write of your seasons as I am CR*P at footy selections. I must be the only idiot outside East Anglia to have backed Norwich to win League 1!!!!!!!!

Matt
Charnwood Foresters FC
tjriverside

Hold on chaps think you maybe getting a bit carried away saying were gonna win the league or get promoted it's abig jump from 4 to 2 a nice mid table finish will so me just fine
Matt B

Should have been in div 2 at the start! lol

not much difference, in fact its sometimes harder to get out of the bottom div than the middle ones.
birstallstamfordanumber1

Not much difference????? Ask my lads how difficult it is to win Division 2 and you will get a strong reply pal!!!!

calm down number 1!!
wvfcgaffer

id say there is quite a gap between 2 and 4
Matt B

Proof's in the pudding boys. We can judge it on how well Riverside do then then this season.

Don't let me down now boys!!!
daftlad

im sure there is a difference in the play, i dont how cossie royal oak can stay in that league.seen them play & there are poor!!
daftlad

the lads are up for it,n ready to go.im especially looking forward to playing birststall, need to silence there number 1!!
birstallstamfordanumber1

Lol...im calm!!!

Seriously, the division was very very tough last year, even if our end of season table looks like we breezed it, believe me we didnt. We came from behind no less than four times and one of those matches we were 3-0 down.I think this year could be even toughercwith lotscof new, hungry teams with a point to prove.Im really looking forward to trying to build on last years sucess.
birstallstamfordanumber1

Hahaha, i like your style riverside.Im not the keeer anymore though, im the gaffer....he one with the big mouth!

Seriously though, im looking forward to playing your lads after keepinga watchful eye on your reults last year.Im sure you will be a tough nut to crack.....but then so are we. Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy
tjriverside

Well to be the best you gotta beat the best weve gone for the notts county route with having a 5 year plan to get into the prem lol
birstallstamfordanumber1

Fair play, nothing wrong with a bit of ambition. You managed to keep most of your squad together this year???
Matt B

I know where your coming from. I just think the standard of all 5 divisions is quite close which is a compliment to the Charnwood League. Even the elite such as Stanny 1sts and Wymeswold are now being challenged by the likes of Lions and Saints. As the standard improves the gulf between divisions becomes smaller. Maybe i'm wrongbut i think Riverside will be up there challenging.
tjriverside

birstallstamfordanumber1 wrote:

Weve lost 2 players but gained 3 or 4 of the same quality were hoping to get one of them back just need him to dump his mrs and move back from london  Laughing  Laughing
Ace_Striker

I think your right, I looked at the divisions this season and thought how strong they are especially the prem!
Ace_Striker

Stanny a are a tough nut to crack riverside and with them young lads, they will hammer some sides this year, over the past year we have played them 3x and all were played like cup finals! This Sunday was the first time we beat them?
robinhood

the first season for our club barton f.c would be happy to stay in league 3 for the first year anything else would be a bonus first game sholud be fun

robinhood wrote:

Whatever. Wink From what I hear, you're quite a good team. Could be another 'New Riverside' by all accounts!
tjriverside

I must say i'm feeling quite proud that any good new team is being pronounced the new riverside, we must have left quite an impression.

Only problem is its long fall down to earth when we come unstuck
Matt B

I like the addition of Barton, nice set of lads and we had a good run out against them in july, but I don't think they'll do a Riverside. HOWEVER, 'Peacock' may well do! Rumour has it in the 1st 3 friendlies they've knocked in 30+ goals against higher division opposition. Surely they need to be moved from Div 4, sharpish. ( only a rumour so I stand to be corrected ).
Mad_Rambo

Hmm seems unlikely, Well my team has won every freindly so far and they have all been from higher div's. But 30+ goals thats a huge amount unless they have had 30 freindly's Razz
wilko

Ashby Railway are playing them Sunday so we'll see if they are pot hunters or whatnot.

Not sure, I can think of one team that wont!!!
Matt B

That is one tough league this season Ian. Glad we have stepped down or it could have been a united kingdon NIL POINT! Hopefully be back for the 2010-2012 season. lol
Ace_Striker

I have to say I agree with u all, I think there is 7/8 real good teams in there and with stanny having a make over and wymswold getting off I can see the the like of compass, shelly lions or lough saints taking it down?

I think there will be a lit if points drop though this year and most teams will be taking points of each other!
birstallstamfordanumber1

Just going to sit on the fence:

Prem Birstall Stamford
Div 1 Birstall Stamford Res
Div 2 Birstall Stamford A

Call me biased........... Twisted Evil  Twisted Evil  Twisted Evil  Twisted Evil
Ace_Striker

my bro was speaking to andy may and he said your res side have not signed a player on yet?
tom burt

twelve wont finish in top half of division 3 this season they struggled last season.

prem birstal 1st           shelly lions 1st
div 1  birstal 2nd          groby
div2   beacon               riverside
div 3  three nuns          shelly lions  2nd
div 4  peacock              three nuns 2nd

could be on the nail with them maybe not div 4 though to many new teams
wilko

Wymeswold or Whitwhick Compass - From what I've heard from both they could be very good. But not to rule out Saints, Stamford, Shelly and Long Whatton (who we've got in the league cup!) Royals will shock a few teams so I expect them to be up there.

Div 1 - Forresters just looking at past results make them contenders to bounce back up.

Don't really know much about Div 2 - Loughborough Rovers get my pick

Division 3 I've gone for Breedon or Enderby St Johns. If Breedon have there players from last season then their tactics of dominating a smaller pitch and playing well on a normal size will work out for them. And Enderby St Johns will do well this season.

Div 4 - 'MON THE ATHS! And Royal Oak.
nippa12

I fear this might shock afew people but i think united aces will do well this season !! We have 13 new players this year alot of them from bagworth, we only have 3 players left from last year and although it will take a few weeks to get used to each other i cant wait to prove a few people wrong and start challanging for div 4 title

Well well well, united aces down to just 3 old boys.

Well Cropston rangers have played 4 freindlys won 4.

And last game against walsh uk 6-2 so we are looking very handy
wvfcgaffer

prem
1st birstall stanford 2nd whitwick compass
div 1
1st groby dynamo 2nd charnwood forresters
div 2
1st stanny "A"  2nd beacon

Adamlill

Div 1 - Burton - Groby
Div 2 - Beacon - Stanny A
Div 3 I know dick all about this one so Im going for Saints Res - Three nuns
Div 4 - Sileby - Peacock
dazman1982

i only predicted one league winner right last year, so if i've tipped you i've probably put the kiss of death on your title ambitions!!!

prem

1st birstall stamford      2nd whitick compass

div. 1

1st charnwood foresters  2nd birstall stamford res.

div. 2

whats up do you want everybody to bow and say that you will win the league ( again unbeaten ) to be fair most of the teams have said you will win it like i did. so come out of your birstall stamford bubble and have a read me ode !!!
birstallstamfordanumber1

Hahaha, no mate, nothing like that, and it was directed at a certain party, maybe i should have sent a PM!!!! Thanks for backing us anyway, i hope to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season....good luck.

Come on, don't leave us in suspense, give us a clue who you mean
Matt B

Cann only be wilko or Tom Burt and to be fair to Wilko he said he soesn't know any teams in div 2. So Poirot reckons Mr Burt has upset Stanny A. Ha Ha
birstallstamfordanumber1

Well, ill give you a clue. They found out to their own cost not to underestimate ANY stamford team only last season. There has always been a bit of an undercurrent between the two teams but and it all stemmed from one of their ex-centre-forwards being a complete c*ck.
however, this was when they were under a different guise.......the plot thickens.
Adamlill

Ah no1! living in the past my friend.! The ex centre forward in question has'nt played for us for 2 years and we are no longer Quorn Grange.
And as for underestimating you last season, I think you've got that one the wrong way round my friend!
Its getting feisty already and we've not even started!
Good luck for the season anyway me ode!
tom burt

so who's the centre forward then?
and i do think the beacon and riverside will finish above birstall a team, played against all three over the last couple of seasons and the first two are better teams. they've had strikers net over 40 goals and they'll probably have the same result again in div 2 theres not a massive gap in quality until you get to the prem and then the odd team in div one bring it on handbags at the ready love it
Adamlill

Only going on what Iv seen pre season, Beacon are a decent side as are Birstall, I think Div 2 will be close at the top this year. Div 1 doesnt appear to have too many weak sides either so that could be close aswell.
Ian @ Birstall Trees

Isn't everyone getting a bit quick to jump on the anti-stanny bandwagon?

They played us off the park tonight, (not too difficult I hear most of you all think), but we still have the same team that went nearly 18 months unbeaten, so I say write the Stanny off at your peril!!!
Adamlill

Im not writing them off, they'll probably end up winning everything but there are some good sides about in all the divisions from what I've seen. Im sure even Stanny would like some good competition.
birstallstamfordanumber1

Thanks again Ian.Im happy being the underdog though pal, it brings out the best in us.

Adamlil, just a friendly bit of banter pal. The ex-centre-forward is the mercurial Nick Harvey, a thorn in the side of us for many a year, and, dare i say it, a hell of a player on his day.(it really hurts to say that)!!!!

Let the games commence.
Adamlill

I knew exactly who you were aiming at mate, he did our heads in enough, he's at Falcs these days, We've only got 2 lads from the Quorn Grange days, but they still remember! haha
Let the games commence indeed!
nippa12

I played with nick at hathern for awhile and from what i remember his was as reliable as diarrhea !! cracking player but likely to upset most teams he played for.
dr chan

that lad has got to be one off the biggest nob's in local football total ars !!!!!
birstallstamfordanumber1

hahahaha, i didnt know he was so hated!!!
Webbo1981

cant stand him, defo nob
Celtic_Steve

Lol! Can't belive this has turned into a Harvey-bashing topic! He played for me in my 6-a-side team one season - lost me my discipline deposit!  Laughing
LCFCStu

DR Chan- Thanks for the vote of confidence mate, but I think there are 2 teams better than us in this league. 1. Sileby. 2 The 6 tits.

Plus many people seem to back cropston and peacock, so who knows! We havent improved on our team at all, which doesnt bother me too much. were a tiny village (3 pubs no post office or shop) and all us lads hang out together too, so theres none of this ego bashing inside the team stuff going around with the bigger and better teams
Matt1988

Hahahahaha Stu i love your comments, they do make me Laugh.

Wahey the mighty Compass, bet you lot wish you had improved at the rate the Village has over the years.

Your being dwarfed by the real deal lad's, a small Whitwick team living in the Villages shadow.

Replace that compass of your's with a SatNav and you might have more luck finding the route to goal.
