Gutted about that result. Our team are looking better every week and for about 80 minutes of this game we were the better team around the pitch, just didn't take our chances when we should have and as usual, basic defensive errors! In hindsight, should have been 2-1 as word has it, the final goal against us went out of play by a clean mile before the lad knocked it in the back of the net.
Either way, it was a good match, one bad tackle by our striker who is sorry for that btw, but overall, was competitive and looking forward to the league games, though hopefully next time we host a game both teams can go back to the pub and enjoy the food - tis a real shame when teams don't do that I think, tis part and parcel of Sunday League and helps out the local pubs that do so much for there teams, I understand the Lions were busy and had to get back, but in general speaking, tis disappointing when teams don't entertain a pint afterwards.

Oh yeah, Celtic 2 - 1 Stretton Bros res
They had two shots on target, the first one was a penalty that our keeper saved. The second was the same penalty the ref made them re-take, which went in.

Don't wish to be a party pooper to u stanny boys but surely it should be about what u r gonna win this year and not what u have won in the past?
Bragging rights in my eyes are only valid up until the first game of a new season, bragging from then on should be about victories and results in the current season!
Fact is ur first team struggled to beat a little club like compass first game of the season? I think the league were very clever this year and pitched all the stannys main rivals up against each other first game of the season. Only the a side passed the test!

Here's another perspective...
We played Swannington today, close game - we won it 5-3. Their manager was a top bloke, shame a couple of their lads tried to ruin it.
One of their players called the ref a 'f-in cnut', for some reason the ref didn't send him off but asked their team to substitute him - that could have cost us the game.
Two straight red cards?? Come on, a yellow card and a talking to at best. Neither were pre-meditated. Unlike....
Another player deliberately kicked one of our lads and saying 'hope i've broke his leg'. Again the ref never acted upon this.
It's fair to say, the Swans (in my opinion) should have had a penalty, but the ref didn't give it, i don't know why. But he gave them a deserved peno in the first half so he couldn't have been that bad. With regards to the disallowed goal, the lino flagged for that, was he cheating as well?
So despite being unfairly called a cheat, the ref gave Swannington a penalty, didn't take action against the pre-meditated kick and let Swannnington play the remaining 20 minutes with 11 men despite being called a 'f-in cnut'. These don't look like the actions of a cheat to me.
I kept the lines of communication open with your manager throughout the game and he didn't have a problem with how it was being reffed.
Anyway, despite all that - good luck for the season

HAHAHAHA I hope you dont actually think that Leicester are a bigger, more Successful team than Derby??
Weve won more Honours than you boys and Your attendance is roughly about 6,000 below ours week in week out.
We can involve forest in the Bigger club arguement of this but unfortunatly your not allowed to enter the successfullness part of this dispute because im not allowing it for several reasons, haha.
Forest are about as big as Leicester in attendances.
But ahwell well get to see another boaring game between derby and Leicester, and dont bring up when you beat us 4-0 at home because im pretty sure we went and beat you 3-0 at your place that season
UP THE RAMS!!!!

However. im sure everyone in this league sees us as the whipping boys, but I feel we might suprise a few teams this year. That said I will be happy to stay up again this season, and build from there.

The pub had never previously had a football team, until we had a landlord (Mark Thompson, who is the first team manager) who actually liked football.
Mark, and myself decided that this would be good business for the pub, and it started from there. I approached the Charnwood league, and we both went for the interview. Mark came out with a load of rubbish at the interview of how we were going to be as good as the Stamford, where as I tried to play our chances down as a traditional pub team. the league obviously believed Mark more than me, and put us straight in to Division 2.
Our first two seasons were nothing to write home about finishing mid, to bottom half on both occasions. In our third season, we got to Christmas, and our record showed P 10 W 1 D 0 L 9, so it was not looking good, then the whole team went to Blackpool for the weekend, and we travelled back to Leicester on the Sunday morning to play Pied Bull, who I believe, were top of the league, and we won 3 - 0, then went on to win the last nine games of that season.
Even with this good finish, we still only came sixth in the league, but there was a shake up of the divisions, and we got promoted to Division 1.
Our first season in Division 1, we only lost one game all season, winning the league, and the William Davis cup final.
Last season, our first in the premier, we just about held in there, some mighty drubbings along the way 12 -2 & 7 - 2 to the Stamford were rather unpleasant if not unexpected, but I feel we have moved on from there now.
This season has started ok, narrow defeat against Wymeswold, & a good win against Quorn in the league, and for the first time ever, we have not been knocked out in the first round of both the County & Everards Cups.
The best thing for me is that 8 of the starting line up that played our first game against brush Sports & Social Club six years ago, were still in the line up last week against Ellis Park in the county cup, the other three being me, too old & fat, now comfortable on the sidelines, & the other two are still kicking about in the reserves.
We are looking at the possibility, of having a third team for next season, and I have also been aproached by a local saturday team that wants to come under the Trees banner.
So the future is looking rosy on the pitch, all I need now is for someone to buy the pub, who doesn't want to turn it into an Indian resturant!!!
