why do teams not go in the oppositions pub after the game?

this season we have made it an unwriten rule that we go for a drink with the opposition on away games.but i find the same old teams never come in our pub after the game. end of the day there's beer and food!!!!

surely we're not that hated!!!!!! lol

I've done the same at Falc's mate....we'll be coming for beer a week on Sunday.
They'll be food on in Maxwell's when you come to our place.

We do the same as a rule. Had Greenhill come back last week, got Shelthorpe Reserves this week.

our pub lays on food for us whether we play home or away, so we never go into the oppositions pub.

Same here, it's harder because if the pub is sponsoring you then some want u bak each week to put money behind bar

Personally I think its polite for the away team to come back to the hosts pub. Maybe your own pubs put food on for ya, but the idea is we help each others local out, when teams come to play us, we are expecting to have a pint with them afterwards, its a great way to socalise with other teams and helps our local pubs with some extra cash behind the bar.

I wouldn't go as far as to say its rude when away teams dont do that, but its certainly not a great image to our team when we are shunned by the away team for whatever reason when we are going to the efforts to make sure there is enough food for both teams etc...

Wicked mate, I always invite the refs as well, but dunno if refs feel awkward going out with the teams afterwards or something, but when do we have u as a ref anyway?

I'm not sure yet, but I wouldn't feel awkward as I think that once the game is finished, what ever is done on the pitch stays there.

weve always come back to yours over the years even when been trashed but apart from this season when you did come for a few beers in our clubhouse last season when we played the 1st & res you never had a drink. i dont matter who we play everyone has a drink it shows respect i think !!

Yeah to be fair last season or so I've not done it normally as I have to pick the other half up for something or other but this year, from now, definately a drink with the opposition after every game unwritten rule.

1st team are do the same as are the 3rds. Irregardless

we're bad for this. We need to start getting our landlord to put enough food on for both teams at our home games. Will mention it to the manager later. Its something we used to do, so I can't say why we've not dfone it this and last season

Went back to the Royal Oak in Cossington after todays game, however, my goalkeeper was very dissapointed not to be greeted with the chips and sandwiches we got last year!!! Whats going on lads??? Laughing

We didn't even get an invite from Saints lol. Assumed we weren't welcome, must have done something to offend someone! lol. But home games now against Barton and Breedon.

Barton have already been invited down from our previous tie but we're gonna be removing some sandwiches from there trays for the mix up at there local when we came to them! lol.

No worries mate, the guy is a monster, seriously! You will need to man mark him out of the game cos Saints rely on him to control the tempo of everything and anything that comes through the middle. Overall Saint's are good in the air, look average when the ball is being played on the ground and a little shaky at the back, so if you can do what we couldn't and get them on the back foot, you stand a really good chance. But yeh, you NEED to mark there number 4 out of the game.
