Equipment/Kit SponsorshipSo close to sealing the deal on this one -- needs to be discussed again at the next committee meeting so I've been informed.
My question is (well, my poll question anyway!) would you seriously buy your match footballs from the League at a price of around £12 per ball (RRP = £19-99)? -- The League will be receiving a couple of those match balls as samples so we can decide whether it's really worth it (same as kit for a single player of a Club and a single Referee -- yet to be decided)... If it is "up-to-scratch", what would you opt for?
Would you buy from us or still go out and buy from a shop?

I think I've said this before but...
If I were wanting to buy 1 match ball, then £12 isn't that unreasonable, however we (Celtic) now use Mitre Ultimatch (more than good enough for sunday league) for our matchballs and get them for around half of the RRP (c£8 inc VAT & delivery). I had to buy 12 to get this price but to be honest I think it's reasonable. The Mitre Monde is normally £20 but I can get them from the same supplier for £11.99 as a one-off or cheaper in bulk.
Now the main problem we have is that our pitch area at Burleigh is surrounded by thorny bushes. We've lost one match-ball to a puncture already (after just two games! ) so I'd rather be £8 out of pocket in that instance than £12.
Other teams, of course, may not have this issue so it would be an invalid argument.
My two-pence again.

You must be fair -- only compare the prices when they are individual; you should not compare your prices when you have to buy bulk!!!
If you pay £11-99 for the Mitre Monde or cheaper in bulk, then it would simply come down to preferance -- which match ball do you rate higher?... Considering I am currently awaiting receipt of some sample match balls, that cannot yet be answered.
Also, there is no reason whatsoever why the League cannot offer a discount to Clubs when buying in bulk! So if you bought 10 or so match balls, you would get a new price quoted/offered to you... If the match ball scheme will be popular enough for Clubs to wish to buy in bulk, then we can easily accomodate them... there's no limit to the amount of match balls that can be purchased from the League. Whether you go through 5 or fifty in a season, we can get you them and pretty quickly too.
Plus, you will obviously not pay VAT or delivery charges when buying from the League, so if that isn't part of your quote when bulk buying from shops, that then gives you something else to think about.
Finally, as the prices for the 2 match balls (ours and the Mitre Monde) are identical (RRP), I would assume not much (if any!) difference at all in the standard of the match ball. However, there is a case to point out that there could be less hassle when ordering from the League rather than having to buy from shops... pros and cons may be useful here, so feel free to start the ball rolling and I will add to both columns if I feel something has been missed.
