Humble Pie

This post is for all those people that predicted that Birstall Stamford A would come nowhere.

Well....we are the first team in the whole of the Charnwood league to wrap up our division. I would like to thank all that have tried (and failed) to beat us. I have refrained from opening my mouth all season, but, i believe me and my lads have earned the right to stuff some words down peoples throats.
Thanks to Groby Dynamo and Whitwick Village for keeping things competitve, but hopefully u will bugger off and get promoted!!!

But, an even bigger thank u to all of my lads, team and staff included. You have performed beyond expectations. We have a guy in goal who hasnt played in 10 years who has been brilliant. A man at the back who fell out of love with football but has put his body on the line. A 17 year old in the engine room who has dragged his team through some matches by himself, and a bloke up front who graft his nuts off because he believes in the stanny (sweeney). I dont want to single anyone out but im just trying to emphasise the amount of character we have in our team.

Well done, boys, im proud as f*ck.

Nick Hughes
Manager
Birstall Stamford A
Ian @ Birstall Trees

Well done Nick, and all the A team

First part of the league treble??????

Not if we perform like we did in the 2nd half yesterday. We crumbled like a broken digestive with the loss of one man thru injury.

Well done the 3rd Team Massive. The Stamford's 50th Trophy in all competitions. That's why regardless, we are the number one when it comes to Sunday football. A great performance by Plank and the lads in their 1st season. Normal service resumed.

Also dissappointing to see that the league reported on Groby Dynamo getting 2nd as opposed to BSFC A winning the league. Surely warrants some mention
Ace_Striker

Thats a fair point Joey, can say i didnt create that post as 2nd is not where i set out to finish. As you know with being the first season in charge and many players letting us down or nowhere near as good as they used to be, we really struggled in some of the earlier fixtures??

Hopefully we can give your lot a run for your money with the new player i have coming in the summer...
Ace_Striker

Oh yeah and well done plank, to go that many games unbeaten takes some going...
birstallstamfordanumber1

Cheers wes, much appreciated pal. Looks like you are nailed on certs to go up now, im sure you will more than hold your own in division 1. You dont fancy sharing this new players name with us then???  lol
Ace_Striker

HA HA??

Ill give you some clues:

1st player is a Center midfielder for Leics Constabs?

2nd is a very fast winger from my home hood of none other than Beaumont leys?

3rd someone that signed on at the start but never player a league game for us?

4th and 5th are not 100% and im still working on them??
birstallstamfordanumber1

Reece Lester must be one of them?

Not sure about the constab midfielder as ive not paid much attention to saturdays this year.

Would i know the fast winger from the hood??
Ace_Striker

Correct on the first or im 95% sure

Yes you would he went to our primary school??
birstallstamfordanumber1

Got to be Robbie Johnson??
Ace_Striker

how did you get that??

Sorry about that. In my defence:

1. It's not the league that reports this, it's just me - I make stuff up on the homepage to keep it current and try and generate some interest. I go by the results (and normally what that means to titles, relegation etc.) as well as some of the stuff that gets posted on the forum (tho this post went on after I updated the web). You will probably see the Echo reporting the Championship.

2. When I was writing the news box I think I had already mentioned the 1st 2 stamford teams and didn't want the article just to be about Stamford! Having said that I'm sure you would have preferred the Stamford A news rather than the Reserves losing their 100% record! Embarassed

3. I had spent most of the afternoon celebrating my team securing a place in the CV Trophy final and thus wasn't in much of a frame of mind for figuring out the Stamford A title mathematics.  pale

I will put something on the site this week so it stands out (probably wednesday - nightmare workload for next 2 days).

For future reference, if someone thinks that they deserve a mention on the website homepage (like 10 game unbeaten run, 100th career goal etc.) then PM me the details and I'll bang it on.

Cheers,

Steve.

Congratulations Plod!

Keep the 3rd team massive going!!!

Well done Nick,Frith, and Christian(the Management) and all the players involved duringthe season. You have gone down in history , lifting not only your first title , but the 50th for the Club ! I know the people who make good Stamford Managers , not necessary the best ever players , but those who live football and have a passion for the game and the Club. You have followed on from Joey, another man with Stamford blood in his veins. You all make me so proud. Find me another Club with 50 titles to their name.As the Club motto says ' capido ac fides ' ..

How you manage to sign him? Mass exodus from A.S.O.B? Hope so cause I'm after 2 from there. Considering Mad Glenn lives virtually next door to him he should have got there first. Club fine.

Good signing tho. Reece is a legend for the immortal line in O.4

"I may not be the best looking lad but I'll never break your heart". And it worked
Ace_Striker

Too be honest with robbie he change his mind again but I have had 4 defo from players who are at least at robbies standard. Robbie left anstey a while ago to play for scrapy garage!
Ace_Striker

Ps I'm gonna hammer reece at work today about that line??
