Breedon, if only you got points for how hard you can kick the ball, and the opposition's players, youd be top of the league.
However, as it stands, you are not, and it might serve you well to just remind yourselves who is.

Riverside Fail to Beat BreedonBreedon Stifle Riverside at the Farm
When top of the table Riverside FC turned up in Breedon-on-the-Hill for their Sunday morning encounter, they knew it wasn’t going to be their day.
The tiny, unaccommodating pitch, clearly intended for children’s matches, saw a match which strongly resembled you might expect to see on the playground.
Once the cattle were herded off of the pitch, the match got underway, the ball bobbling around everywhere. Both sides found themselves incapable of playing any kind of passing football, which duly suited the hosts.
In truth, the first half was more of a tennis match between the two goalkeepers than a footballing contest. However, Riverside came close on several occasions, and managed to go in to the break one-nil ahead, after Tom Marriott converted from close range, following a good ball from his strike-partner Jamie Morris.
After the interval, the weather worsened, and the potholes remained. The game continued in the same scrappy vain as it had begun, with more Breedon players finding themselves in the referee’s book.
After a series of confrontations in the penalty box preceding a corner kick, Riverside were eventually awarded a penalty when the Breedon goalkeeper was judged to have cynically pushed an opposing player to the ground. The resulting penalty was well-saved by the goalkeeper, who perhaps should have seen red for pathetically pushing the penalty-taker to the floor after the miss.
The stage was set for Breedon to snatch an equaliser as the game became stretched, and indeed they did so, when Riverside’s keeper desperately parried a bobbling shot into the path of an oncoming Breedon striker, who dispatched from six yards.
Despite some lengthy stoppages, for a broken nose amongst other incidents, the referee’s added time seemed strangely brief, as the rain continued to fall, and so the match, much to Breedon’s jubilation, ended even.
Riverside will be looking to put the result to the back of their minds and focus on getting a result on a full-sized pitch at Royal Oak next weekend, who are currently suffering a difficult run of form in the league.

Regarding the size of the pitch...... Breedon's pitch is perfectly legal. For a pich to be legal the minimum dimensions would have to be 100yds by 50 yds.

Whitwick Village 3 Birstall Stamford A 6
A massive doff of my cap towards whitwick village who went three nil up early and must have thought they had the win in the bag.Good luck to you lads if you move up a division as you are a good outfit with a lot of potential. However, an even bigger doff of my cap towards my lads who once again showed enormous strength of character to come back for the win.
That is why we are currently top of the league.
Once again, a footnote on the poor standard of ref, giving rubbish decisions aginst both sides.Otherwise a classic game of sunday football.

Credit to Stamford Res's too, I think it was 6 shots 6 goals, all of which seemed to be rockets into the top corners! although on another day with one or two of our injured regulars in it could have easily swung the other way.
Good game none the less

match reportsMake what you will of the match reports, they're just a bit of fun really.
If you enjoy reading them to see how many excuses there are, then at least you enjoy reading them!
Things have rarely not gone our way this season, but today was an exception, and does merit a fair bit of moaning.
It had to be the worst game of 'football' I have ever had the displeasure of playing in. Oh no, wait, that was the match against Three Nuns! Duh!

I would like to set a few things straight here....
1. Pitch is perfectley legal
2.Your goal came off the back sloppy defending and not a great thru ball
3.The "confrontations in the box" were down to the childish behaviour of your players trying to push the breedon keeper into the net whilst defending a corner. and just for the record the keeper didnt touch your player, it was infact one of our center backs who retaliated to the playground antics of your players!
4.Good penalty save by the keeper who was then verbally abused by the childish riverside striker, but cannot defend the response but its wasnt that bad as the ref didnt even book the player.
5.Every decision went your way today.
6.You may be top but only by goal difference
Your team really need to learn how to loose, it was pathetic how your captain stropped off after the game refusing to shake anybodys hand. The game was played in fairly good spirt but in my opinion the only childish playground behaviour came from Riverside.
Im sorry but its true.
And while im about it, how can you slag off our facilites when you havent even got any changing rooms!!!!! ha ha !!!
The council are still picking up all 11 of your players dummies from the pitch as we speak.
Go back to your sour grapes!!! you cannot have it your way every week

Jesus Christ, being a bad loser is one thing, but having this level of whinging and moaning after a draw is frankly pathetic.
Regarding the standard of the pitch, unless I'm mistaken this is the Charnwood Sunday League. Division 4. I'm sorry our full-time professional groundstaff couldn't lay on a Wembley style surface for you.
With regards to the number of bookings, what were there, 2? Hardly a huge amount.
As for the broken nose, the player that was on the receiving end sportingly acknowledged it was totally accidental, and it hardly stopped the game at all (most of the treatment was off the pitch when the game was continuing), so the amount of stoppage time was absolutely spot on - and when were all these other supposed lengthy stoppages you mention?
Now the penalty - as has already been said it was adjudged the foul was by the centre half, so not sure what game you were watching. Perhaps your mind was elsewhere, thinking how many inaccuracies and excuses you could shoe-horn in to one match report?
And finally, if the pitch was as tiny as you make out, how could the game become stretched?

Breedon, I think you're taking it a little too seriously. Only having a bit of banter here. I'm not trying to act the Judge in a court of law - as you have pointed out, there are inaccuracies in the article, it isn't a kick-by-kick analysis.
Our striker said something to your keeper when he missed the penalty - I'm afraid that isn't true, he didn't say a word to anyone all game, he's not that kind of lad. Besides, what can you possibly say when you've just missed a penalty? lol
As for our captain not shaking anyone's hand, I doubt that was the case. There were a few of our players who, unsurprisingly, didn't want to hang around, the weather was appauling and they were probably nursing a few injuries after being kicked around for 90 mins, lol.
One of your defenders even gave another lad a high-five, congratulating him for commiting a nasty foul, its that kinda thing which rubs salt in the wounds.
Anyway, it was a hard fought match, and it does leave the title race wide open, so good luck to whoever takes their chance to shine.

Birstall Trees Vs Hathern Thee Crowns - match postponed
Got a call from Hathern Secretary at 7pm last night to tell me he can't get a team, and they wouldn't be coming
All very well and good, but I still have to pay for our pitch
More paperwork to the league tomorrow!!!

Ian, is there likely to be any punishment for Hathern? I mean, what happens to teams when they cant get a side together?
Is it just forgotten and everybody moves on, or is there some kind of consequence?

I will have to put a written report in to the reports secretary to claim back out pitch fee from hathern, which I think they will aquire on our behalf.
Apart from any other consequence that is up to the league
Just disapointing, as this was a big game for the first team

Hathern will be fined and will have to pay the Tree's pitch fee, as well as any other expenses incurred. How much fine depends on the reports from both teams and the decison by the league.
By the way. Website updated everyone...

No disrespect but with 5 of our key regulars missing and our inability to deal with the conditions and mind set we put ourselves in, 3-6 is something I wasn't really best pleased with at all but I'd've took that result before the game it's points on the board at the end of the day. My decision to play our 3 strikers clearly not too effective as it made our formation too complicated. Back to 4-4-2, feed the striker and he will score.
Credit to the Burton lads perform like that agianst other sides and they'll be playing Division 1 football next year no problem and also possibly a Semi Final appearance this year as well.
