Both of us played some brilliant football and the result went to the team who finished their chances.

Thanks to the Rovers boys for giving us the hardest game of the season so far, but thanks go to my lads for pulling out a top-drawer performance!

we have the 3 points from the nunns game it just hasnt been put on the league yet.. so we are 6 points clear of nuns.. with 2 games left.. they will need to win both their games by arounnd 20-0 and for us to lose both our games and not score in either of them!!...

Our luck ran out in the 2nd half and we looked very lethargic which, fair play to Whitwick, we got punished for. The team that shown the desire got the result. Very dissappointed after all the hard work and results in the previous weeks. Time to get myself back out in town to keep an eye on a few I reckon.

Fair play to Whitwick and title race blown wide open which will make for a very exciting finish

Hm, what shows this?

Riverside beat Breedon at home, just as Sileby have done. If anything, Riverside practically winning the league, whilst Sileby can only come 2nd at the very best, would suggest that Riverside are perhaps better than Sileby...

But in any case, we will see this Sunday, as we are playing Sileby.

It's just a shame we have been moved to play at Derby Road Hardcourt as I have renamed it, because it would be a much better contest on a nicer pitch against Sileby, as those boys play some nice footy too. It gets a bit tedious when the ball is always bouncing over your head due to the rock hard ground at Derby Rd!

P.s. mr, swannington, we are considering drawing out position out of a hat for a laugh IF we win the league before we play you on the last day of the season. However, if you keep saying how rubbish we are, it might be more fun to play properly and thrash you!

Should be a good match to end the season on anyway, then down to the pub for all-day drinking seeing as it's Easter Monday the following day which means no work! (for those who have a job, doh)...

Burton 3 - 1 Harrow (Alliance League)

Harrow are a good side for a div 4 team.

not to mention most goals scored, best defensive record and best goal difference in our league Arrow  Arrow  scratch  scratch  scratch
birstallstamfordanumber1

Just to clarify things. Riverside have not YET won anything?? But are celebrating already...... Perhaps a little bit of arrogance creeping into proceedings by the looks of it. I cant wait to see if they get promoted up to Div 2, see how they fair against us!!!   Wink

I take it then that if you were in our shoes you would not be celebrating then?? And also if your that quick to shoot down our celebrations, then take a bet with me that we wont win the league, The only reason you wouldnt accept a bet is if you also thought that we had the league title tied up already!!!! Otherwise ill let you bring the money to the league presentation evening while im holding the trophy Razz

On another note i dont think we deserve to be in division 2!! i would prefer to try and work our way up through every division, since xmas we havnt really looked like we would cope well in div 2.. We have made hard work of all our games in the second half of the season, and we dont look any stronger that the likes of sileby , three nuns, breedon or walsh!!

Dont take our celebrating as arrogance, alot of our players including myself arnt used to winning things, so let us enjoy this!! then you can have your last laugh when we get spanked in div 2 Razz
tjriverside

Dont worry birstall stamford we are aware its not mathematically yet were jst assuming that three nuns are gonna really struggle to make up 40+ goal difference in there final 2 games especially against two good sides in ashby railway and sileby athletic.

We looking forward to next season whichever division were in, but would be nice to have a friendly with you if your interested, we always try to test ourselves against the really top sides, which your lot clearly are, to see what standard we need to get to, and become competitive.

As you can see we have high hopes for our team and i think weve done well in our first season as none of us really knew each at the start, so weve had to build team spirit and banter from scratch.

From a neutral standpoint, and much as it pains me to say it, having played them both, Riverside are FAR better than Sileby.
wilko

Everyone has their opinions.
wilko

Take Tom Marriot out the side then the league would be a very different story also, would love to see how they fair next season. We've played 2 Div 3 teams and we've been beat twice. Big step up.

O.K Granted Tom Marriott is a freak of nature when he gets the ball everything he hits seems to find they way in to the net, but with him we think we can give any1 a good game and hes going nowhere next season cuz were chaining him to the radiator and only letting him come out on sunday mornings.

We also have played higher divisions and faired ok, beat Epinal rovers in a friendly 5-1 Lost to Lions 6-1, beat Greenhill in the league cup 8-1 who have made the final of the divisional cup, and heather St Johns 6-2 in the cup.

But also lost to Loughborough Rovers and Beacon who we took to extra time and could have gone either way
Riverside FC

Tom Marriott will agree with me, he's nothing special.

He's just been in the right place at the right time to score the tap-ins! haha!
Riverside FC

I do love this forum though, quality banter
SilebyAths9

People forget how young our team is and personally. including the cup runs, i think weve done really well this season getting some good results along the way (As Groby will vouch for). With a few older heads coming in the summer i believe everyone will see the best out of us next season.
Krashslaughta75

Who's Tom Marriott and who does he play for on Saturdays?
wilko

Sileby Town I think.
Krashslaughta75

50+ Goals at this stage of the season is good going by any strikers regardless
Ace_Striker

That is true, he must know where the back of the net is?? Would like to see him in the 2nd div next year to see if he can score there?

1 of our strikers hit 56 at barlestone last season in the district league but has been injured and only started playing in feb and is now banned till mid April!!!

Story of our season??
Krashslaughta75

Indeed he did and Mr Farina looked good in Pre-season for Barlestone as well when I saw them.
Gomez32

Yea tommy Marriott plays for sileby town on a Saturday!! Just starting to feature more on the first team after coming back from uni last summer. Always been able to find the net right through from when he was at barrow town under 18s. Quality keeper too!! Intact I wish I was him haha.
steansy

tom marriotts who?? i didnt realise he was stil playing?! hes a good lad i like him but hes not this footballing genius that he's being made out to be.... big fish in a little pond?? im surprised the lad can run with so many of his team with their tongues up his back side!! i would say i bet he gets some loving in the changing rooms.... bet youve not got any hahaha only jokin.
Riverside FC

Nice one Steansey, v mature lol
birstallstamfordanumber1

Id like to see how the boy marriott copes against a BSFC back four.......Or a Groby Dynamo back four come to mention it.Ouch!!!
