Groby 4-2 Burton - If we put our chances away it could have been a different story. And they should have been down to 10 men but the ref bottled it.

Heather 1-11 Whitwick Village
dazman1982

epinal 0 - 5 birstall stamford res.

not a lot to say apart from we lost to the better side. we played better than last week but still dissappointing.

Swannington 5 - 0 Three Nuns Reserves
wilko

Sileby Aths won 10-0. Fair play to Tree's Ressys they never gave up. Hope Keeper and Centre half are alright, but then again the magic sponge seemed to work.

Roll on Ashby Railway next week.

markfield rangers 0 riverside 3

im taking on the match report writing after the departure of last years captain, i hope i dont dissapoint.

after last weeks loss to markfield we knew we had to raise the our game...alot.
markfield piled on the pressure from the off forcing riversides back line to hard work, there were many chances for the home team but none were taken, riverside captain tried his hardest to raise the team, it took a 1 on 1 save from there keeper to kick them up the arse. riverside broke the dead lock after 30 mins with tommy triceps marriot heading in a pin point freekick from aiden mcgovern. After this riverside were certainly playing better than the week before, marriot scored his second 5 mins before the break during a goal mouth scramble.

As soon as the second half started riverside were caught sleeping and markfield should have taken advantage of this, markfield came out fighting wantin something from the game. riverside went off on the break, then triceps was brought down in the area & the ref pointed to the spot.it was down to marriot to put it away, which he did so,placed into the bottom left corner.markfield still kept on fighting but were unable to beat the keeper, but did beat the keeper at 1 stage but essdot sean mcgovern was there for a goal line clearance.

Very impressed with markfields pitch, good bunch of lads they have, im sure they weaker today than last weak.

hope i didnt dissapoint

I have to say that I am sitting here now laughing my head off at this?

Quick stats for you:

possesion equals 70-30 to groby

chances equals 30-4 to groby

dirtiness 60-40 to burton

corners about 10-2 groby

score should have been 10-1

where did u get a close ge from, at half time ur whole team were moaning at each other cus ur rubbish and were getting battered..

Your own players said u were getting hammered!!
Donisthorpe Engines

Barton FC 2 - 2 Donisthorpe Engines

Really enjoyable game, Barton have got a great set of lads, really friendly and was an enjoyable atmosphere from start to finish, just like Sunday football should be. Great changing facilities as well, a number of my lads loved the hairdryers!!! (yes we have some who allegedly bend that way) lol.

Fair result in the end I think.
robinhood

yeh was a good game the lads from donisthorpe had a good game will look forward to the return match  for me and the lads a good point to start the season good luck for the rest martin barton f.c p.s the hairdryers were fitted for sir alex for a man utd team talk lol

I was pleasantly suprised when i turned up at markfields ground today! real nice pitch, shame the football from both teams wasnt as great! Fairly scrappy game and i think the scoreline flattered us a bit, markfield had numerous chances, on another day with better finishing they could have easily beat us by 4 or 5.

Markfield always make it difficult pal, especially at home!

another good result, soon they will all listen ah?
birstallstamfordanumber1

Mountsorrel 1 Birstall Stamford A 3

mde it difficult for us today, however, we have no less than 7 players away, or, helping out the stanny reserves today, so we were happy with the result.Scrappy game, but, these cheeky away victories at the start of the season will count at the end of the season.

The stamford machine keeps on rolling.......

just an afterthought too.Todays ref booked one of our lads for saying"and again, and again". Then 30 seconds later failed to book another one of our lads for doing the same thing.

[Edited by Celtic_Steve]Yes, Nick, edited again. You should send a report to Iain Stanbridge if you have a problem with the referee.[/edit]
wvfcgaffer

my comment about a ref has been removed mate, obviously not allowed a opinion
Donisthorpe Engines

truth be told, im not going to express my full opinion of our referee today against Barton, he was a young lad so guess he has some years to improve, but he made some big errors and really did seem afraid to call for a freekick often for blatant shoves to the back, he also relied WAY to much on the linesman.
Wasn't bad enough to ruin an otherwise close and enjoyable game, but could have been alot better, however ill save my harshness for my overall rating of him on the teamsheet.
RefSec

You are allowed an opinion, but when an individual is named on a public forum and slated, rightly or wrongly, and I agree in part with your issues, I don't think it is rght when they don't have a chance to defend themselves.
birstallstamfordanumber1

haha, isnt it funny how we are expected to hand over the money as soon as the game is over....but we are not allowed to voice our opinion????

Its like buying a tV thats broke and not being able to get a refund!!!  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy
RefSec

If you have a problem with the official then report the fact in writing and you should be handing over the match fee before the game.
Ian @ Birstall Trees

Shelthorpe Lions P - Birtsall Trees P

No ref so has to cancel the game (already sorted with the league so no need to jump on the anti ref band wagon)

Sileby Athletic 10 - Birstall Trees Reserves 0

After Sileby's 20-0 win last week, we made them look poor by them only scoring 10 goals today!!!

No ref also for the reserves, so thanks to Wilko for doing the honours, as I said to you at the end, its a thankless task

Both our goalkeeper & centre back are ok, the goalie is just old, and as our centre back is a eigth dan balck belt Karate instructor, it must have been something that hurt to keep him down, he has a lump on the side of his face the size of an egg, but as he is from Wolverhampton, he must accept that being ugly goes with the teritory

Well played today, and I think you might have ruffled a few feathers in Division 4,

Cheers Ian

Cropston Rangers 2 - 0 Aces

Nice to get the grudge match out the way and win, altho it should have been about 7 nil with the amount of chances.

They didnt have a look in, actually they did when they had to pass back to our keeper =).

And what a lucky lad not getting sent off after a clear foul that should have been his second yellow.

Yes it was a foul but he wasn't the last man and was not even running towards the goal, he was running to the line..

just read the post and I thought forums were about banter, that's why you have a section called banter..

I'm not saying abuse is right but surely piss taking is part of banter, I mean  what one person deems as being abuse another might laugh at the joke!

Banter is fine, jokes are fine, abuse is not.

One of my (getting even) rarer apperances and we deserved the win good way to start the season
HathernCrowns

Charnwood Foresters 1 - 1 Hathern Three Crowns

To be fair the home keeper kept them in the game, 3 or 4 blindin' stops along with a penalty save, but we'll take the point seeing as the side was still steaming from the Saturday night out!!

As I was the one he brought down 8 yards in front of goal I can safely say there was no one between me and the keeper. But as you are right about everything I'm probably going to be put right once again.

Up the Sileby Aths.. 20-0 last weekend and 10-0 this weekend, the scary thing is yesterday we didnt even play that well. 20 odd games left though.

Don't be too critical of yourselves, the half I saw you play, you did more than alright.

We turned up just in time to see your keeper make a fantastic double save from our penalty, obviously the turning point, as it might have been 10 - 1.

Sorry for all the first team heckerling on the side lines, after our game at Shelthorpe was called off, we thought we would turn up and support the ressies, but I think the 'banter' made them play worse.

On another note, good to see Matt B, AKA 'the cat' pull off a fine penalty save for the Foresters on the pitch next door, obviously a day for it.

Cheers Ian
HathernCrowns

Yeah fair shout on the Foresters keeper, shame though as it was my penalty he saved!!

Yeah Matt is my saturday gaffer, I have a feeling he will be talking about it alot at training Thursday.  Laughing

Ashby Railway Sunday.
Matt B

You are all too kind! Not bad for a striker ( too fat, too old and always injured. Old age = Goalkeeper! I am sure the luck will rub off and i'll let one in though my legs on sunday. lol

Hathern, we have you again in 2/3 weeks for some reason. you did deserve to win, albeit only just as it was a reasonably close! Think its the first game we've kept 11-a-side aswell against your boys. Glad to see we all kept to the footy this game. it makes it much better.
HathernCrowns

Yeah we enjoyed it - got a few new lads in this year to bring the average age down which helps!

And think both sides will fare better in Div 1 than the Premier, too much of a stretch at that level when lads are getting older / more injured / more hungover!
Matt B

We couldn't get any worse than last year.!!!
