..They wernt rubbish, the two lads I know are very decent players in Lewis and Joe. We've got a stronger side this year and I've managed to get a few older lads in which is helping us. You'll recognise though that the core of the squad is still together, only 2 departures but a much stronger squad for this season. |

bit disapointing, be be honest 4-0 at half time would have been fair result but in the end had to be happy with 2-1 considering we have had no pre season friendlies, ashby railway will be mid table, they have imnproved on last season with a few very good players, defence a bit dodgy. |

Was a real close encounter that could have gone either way on a different day, penalty in the last few minutes put the game to rest by Loughborough, but a really good showing by both teams. |

ashby 1 -2 swanningtonswannington should have won this game at a canter, 3-0 in the 1st 15 minutes would have been right but you cant go missing 1 on 1's all the time. had to be happy with 2-1 considering we have had no pre season friendlies (long story) ashby better than last season but a bit weak at the back, got some good players though. |

Normally im very complimentary with my match reports, but....... We were sh*t, they were even worse, [edited by Celtic_Steve] Couldnt wait to get the game over with to get out of the f*cking hole.if im honest, ill take the three points and be happy to get off to a winning start.Also really happy to turn up and see them wearing purplemauve/gay lavender instead of the aforementioned red, which clashed with our kit.As stated before, im normally very fair and very complimentary, but, ill be glad never to visit greenhills pitch again. needless to say, we will no doubt now draw them in the league cup.Cant wait for the return fixture. by the way, if i hadnt already mentioned...we were dogsh*t. |

Tone was set after about 90 seconds when a great flying save was made with the ball heading to the top corner. Unfortunately it was by one of our defenders, so we were down to 10 men and a goal down (they scored the pen) after 2 mins. Great start to the season. Fair play to saints they played some good stuff, and will be there or there abouts at the end of the season, but they weren't exactly challenged today........ |

I understand how you feel mate, Today we played Ashby Railway and every 30 econds they were appealing to the Ref for nothing and about 4 of there players tried to get me sent off for a foul i commited which only deserved a yellow card because i was the last man (keeper back). Ive found towards the end of last season and today that theres are a few teams who struggle to actually beat teams in the fairness and true spirit of the game, but thats life i guess and we have to get over it by playing the way we can.....Fairly. |

They have lost most of their better players at the end of last season. Apparently Marlborough Rovers are starting a new team up, and most were leaving to join that. Thats why I was so suprised that they were allowed to be promoted. Think the League may have dropped a bollock here

After a slight mix up with us going to Wymeswold, and them coming over to Birstall (we were in the right) the game finally got going albeit delayed. The lads put up a good performance against last seasons runners up, and if they had got their shooting boots on yesterday, then who knows. Birstall Trees Res 1 - Ashby Rovers Res 3 See the above post!!!, fair play to Ashby, they took their chances, we didn't new season, same results!!! Wilko, by the sounds of it your mid week game against our first team did not do you any harm after all. |

Maybe you should talk to your forward who i "fouled" during the game. He came to me after the game and said to me as quoted "when we scored i nearly ran into your leg again but i decided id best not" haha clearly a non dirty team i have to admit Rant over. |

I don't remember you/whoever it was instead having to go off, and I'm guessing it didn't end in having to go for an X ray so it clearly wasn't as bad as yesterdays. Any case I'm not saying we're perfect, we have our moments like most teams, you on the other hand are claiming to be whiter than white which I can assure you, you are far from. |

Bit harsh from birstallstamfordno1 can't see how we got under your skin at all! We were terrible on Sunday no other way of putting it. It's hard when you only have 9 players who are fit. 21 signed on and only 11 show up we weren't hoping for much! No pre season, just hoping that it will get better. I for one had a laugh with some of your lads and you have one hell of a player in the man mountain up front! Your second goal that he scored I think he had 5 of our players round him but we couldn't get close! Anyway best of luck for the season and hopefully we can give you a better showing later in the season! | ||||||

Apologies Greenhill, perhaps i should rephrase my previous remark, it was actually the people on the touchline that got under my skin, not the players, (except for the gobby left-back!), your lads were a decent bunch and were quite complimentary after the game.If Steve hadnt edited my posts it would have been a bit clearer to see what i meant, however, i dont think he liked my colurful language!!
The big lad up front is a quality player , hes a great weapon because a lot of opposition teams comment how much he doesnt look like a footballer at all, (even though he is a dead-ringer for Michael Carrick!). Too be fair, you matched us for a lot of the game,but, taking nothing away from your efforts, we were probably in first gear. All the best anyway, see you later in the season, Good luck. |
