we to had no ref got the call ten minutes before k-o so joe smith reffereed bit dodgy for 3 of thier goals but when your five one up think he took pitty on them other than that he had another good game. think the bloke who was supposed to ref was still in bed with hangover cos he was out on the ale last night is he gonna get a fine like we would if we didn't bother in the morning and just give 10 minutes notice and then we only found out cos our reserve team manager phoned!!!!!!! not happy |
Tom, I know it was not good but let's get this completely right! Your Reserve Team Manager is the Secretary of the Club - that is who is supposed to be contacted isn't it Also, I admit it was extremely late notice but I contacted Paul at 10:04am this morning, so it wasn't 10 minutes notice (I'm not saying 26 mins notice is ok but it's an extra 16 mins to what you are saying). Also, as I mentioned to Paul, I tried contacting RefSec seconds before contacting Paul but couldn't get through ( think my phone may be a bit knackered as a side note )
And to confirm; Yes I was out last night (and you've done it s**t loads of times tom so don't try stirring it!!). I am entitled to go out now and again, but don't worry, next time i want to have a few I'll be sure to ask your permission! Just in case it affects me in any way with football the next day. By the way, I have been out plenty of times and gotten drunk **** loads of times and still got up next day and refereed 1 or 2 games! I didn't feel well tom (which is exactly what i told Paul!!!) but I didn't have a hangover! Before you start moaning like that, get all the facts!!!!!!!!!!!
After all that correcting, I do apologise for not being able to referee this morning. You and Paul should know what I'm like with football - it takes a helluva lot to make me miss refereeing a game or even just watching a game! It's the 2nd time in about 6 or 7 years in refereeing that this has happened with me so don't make it sound like I do this every other week
On a side note to what you said about being fined Tom, Clubs fine players for lack of commitment etc - that's true. But if you screw up as a referee, you are likely not to be given a few games as punishment (which equates to about £90!) so there's your f***ing fine mate! Start knowing a bit about what you write before you go off on one at my expense! PS: write a report to the League making your complaint - oh wait sorry, it wouldn't be YOU that writes it, it would be your RESERVE TEAM MANAGER (AKA: Your Secretary!!!). | _________________ six guns all the way |

To be honest mate you should see the lads leg, it was a state. Generally the game was played in good spirits and yes the ref was a complete joke.
With the cards I was refering to the blatant hand balls on the line. When the ball's going in and a defender can stick his hand out and block it for only a penalty given it's ridiculous. The offender must have some kind of punishment beyond the penalty. We missed the second but luckily the game was wrapped up by then.
You were a good bunch of guys apart from your number 9 that was playing at the back who couldn't stop swearing at us all for no real reason. The offside given from the throw was comedy at its best, unbelievable.
Good game anyways, sorry if my comments were badly recieved, good luck for the season. |

The thing which really annoyed me Tom was that you made it sound like I do that every other week and that I don't care about whether the game of football gets a referee or not. I've been involved too heavily in many aspects of football for several years now to not care about a game of football (local or national) - you seem to indicate I couldn't give a monkeys. I have refereed games with hangovers in the past (a number of times actually) - having a hangover is no reason to miss refereeing (or playing) a game of football (in my opinion). The only reason I was that precise with the time was because I checked the time on my phone log. That's it.
I've already apologised to Paul and Iain for giving what is effectively last-minute notification (which some referees wouldn't have bothered giving considering how late it was), but I can't do any more than that. I wasn't well enough to do the 90 minutes, that's the sad fact. let's move on from this shall we? But if you can't, then you can always ask Iain not to appoint me to any of your games? That way my obviously non-existent reliability won't cause you any further pain. _________________ Just another lackey... |

Refereeing is not as bad as people think - you just need to have patience and appreciate that most of the rubbish (on the field) is from a mixture of frustration and passion for the game and not because people are just nasty I used to be a stand-in ref for the L'Boro Saints before I actually became a referee so it was a good grounding for me strangely, I really enjoyed it!! I even enjoy the abuse It's just part of the normal game nowadays (unfortunately) - I do take action when I need to, but common sense plays a lot in the decision making It's not all black and white as the Laws are written
Tom knows what i'm like and i know what he's like so our little spat isn't as bad as people who don't know us think.
And Tom, bygones mate - I look forward to refereeing you against L'Boro Saints Reserves later this year (if I don't get switched ) _________________ Just another lackey... |

From what I've been told (I wasn't there as I'm out injured at the moment), they've had some trouble in the past using non-assigned referees and didn't fancy it being a league game. We played a friendly instead and beat them 10-1, which was the same score as when we played them on the first day of the season. |
