I haven't seen it yet, but from what I have read it was an innocuous challenge, maybe it was because it was Chelsea that it was given! Us refs can't really slag Mr. Styles off too much as I am sure we have all given 'soft' penalties at one time or another, just ask the manager of Coss Royal Oak!

Sad Sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I must admit that I was obviously wrong after watching that game, which happened to be completely ruined by the so-called referee Exclamation

Sorry RefSec, but I can slag off this referee Exclamation He spoilt the first game of last season and now has ruined this game completely! He is almost as bad as Mike Riley in the Premiership!

And I sooooo wanted Liverpool to win as well!

Also, it wasn't a soft penalty... in fact, I should edit this to simply say "It wasn't a penalty." full stop!

Wait till MoTD and you'll see why! Personally, I think he should be paid just the standard £25-00 instead of the £500-£600 as per their usual fee!

Oh, and he's a professional referee (in other words, his refereeing is classed as his full-time employment), so he should really get some more practice in for when (or IF) he gets another big match like that!

Personally, I think decisions like that should see a referee demoted to the Championship or other Football League fixtures as punishment until they can display that they are good enough to referee in that kind of game and in that pressure! I would have booked so many of those Chelsea moaners for their big gobs angryfire angryfire angryfire - the match may have been abandoned 'cos they would have had double-bookings!!!

It's not only the referee who ruined the match with the worst decision I've seen given in my entire football-watching life, but Chelsea too for always trying to pressurise the referee (unfortunately, it seems to work - like today!) angryfire angryfire

It really was a disgraceful decision but then i agree with refsec it was because it was chelsea i also agree with little_bloke decisions like that give refs a bad reputation and so they should be demoted to lower leagues to prove they are worthy of doing their job correctly. ALSO how close was he stood to the incident!! There is no way on earth he can justify the decision he gave

I've just seen the 'penalty'. Absolutely disgraceful, Even Little_Bloke and myself wouldn't give it. The ref should be demoted to under-12s on a Sunday morning, or is that just punishing the under-12's? I did notice a bit of a pause before he gave it. Maybe he just wanted to be the centre of attention due to an under-priviliged upbringing.
