One of our best players got sent off Sunday, for taking a little pee behind the goal(he hid his modesty) before our big local derby with Birstall Trees!
The ref at the time was checking the nets.
Is this in the rules?
I've been playing football for more than 30 years and i've never heard of
anything like it before.
I could understand if it was a deliberate act to cause upset and was on the pitch.
The player in mention suffers with pre-match nerves, and this massive
occasion with the league title at stake got the better off him. There was only a couple of minutes before kick-off,and our changing rooms were some
distance away.
i would appreciate feedback from referees,in order to clear this matter up,because i'm sure thousands of other sunday morning footballers have
done this and not been so harshly treated!!!!!!

Unfortunately it would depend on the individual referee and within Law 12 of the Laws of Association Football, your referee is within his rights to dismiss the player. Also, different referees have varying tolerance levels towards such things.
From a personal point of view, I wouldn't take any notice of the player and once or twice have done the same thing.
Also, it is one of those occasions 'where you had to be there', we don't know if anything was said or done to cause offence which led to his dismissal.

It appears to be very harsh, however I understand that you got around the issue by stating he was a substitute anyway? So, you still had the 11 men to start the game with...  The standard of the player concerned doesn't really matter -- the referee is entitled to dismiss the player, although as you already know, it is extremely rare!

If the referee deems it to be offensive, then the referee can dismiss the player.

However, whether he was a sub or a player isnt relevant.  A player sent off before the game has started can be replaced by a named substitute.
